About this test score calculator

The test score calculator takes the total number of questions, the number answered wrong, and any skipped questions, then returns your percentage score and letter grade in one step.

The formula is straightforward: correct answers = total − wrong − skipped, then score (%) = (correct ÷ total) × 100. The letter grade follows the standard 10-point scale: 90–100% earns an A, 80–89% a B, 70–79% a C, 60–69% a D, and anything below 60% an F. The tool validates your inputs, so it will flag an error if wrong plus skipped exceeds the total, or if any value is negative.

For example, on a 50-question test where you got 5 wrong and skipped 2, the calculator finds 43 correct answers, giving a score of 86.00% and a grade of B. The result panel also shows the raw correct-out-of-total count alongside the percentage. Useful for students checking results before an official grade is posted, teachers doing quick mark calculations, or anyone converting a raw score into a percentage.

FAQ

How does the test score calculator work?
It subtracts the number of wrong and skipped answers from the total, divides by the total, and multiplies by 100 to get a percentage. It then assigns a letter grade using the standard 10-point scale (A ≥ 90%, B ≥ 80%, C ≥ 70%, D ≥ 60%, F below 60%).
What formula does the calculator use?
Score (%) = ((total − wrong − skipped) ÷ total) × 100. Skipped questions count as incorrect for scoring purposes, the same way most standardised tests treat unanswered items.
Do I have to fill in the Skipped field?
No. The Skipped field is optional and defaults to zero if left blank. Only Total Questions is required; Questions Wrong also defaults to zero if omitted.
What happens if I enter more wrong and skipped than the total?
The tool shows an error: "Wrong + skipped cannot exceed total questions." Correct the values and press Calculate again to get a valid result.
Does this tool store my data?
No. The test score calculator runs entirely in your browser. No data is sent to a server, and closing or refreshing the page clears all inputs.
Is the test score calculator free?
Yes, it is completely free with no account, no signup, and no usage limit.
