About this bucket list creator
The bucket list creator builds a categorised list from eight bundled idea packs (8 items each, 64 starter ideas total). Pick the categories that appeal to you, generate the list, and then make it yours: add custom items in any category, tick off the ones you’ve done, and delete the ones you don’t care about. Every change persists on your device, so the list survives reloads, browser restarts, and category re-toggles. The intent is a living document, not a frozen wishlist.
A worked example: select Travel, Adventure, and Learning. The tool returns categorised items including (Travel) See the northern lights, Walk a portion of the Camino de Santiago, Visit all seven continents… (Adventure) Skydive or paraglide, Scuba dive on a coral reef, Surf a wave… (Learning) Learn a second language to conversational level, Read a 1000-page book, Take a university-level course online… You add "Hike Mount Fuji" under Adventure, tick off "Surf a wave", and remove the rest from the Learning category. Press Copy and the list exports grouped by category with a checkbox-style prefix for each item.
These are starter ideas, not a prescription. Adventure items in particular (skydiving, deep diving) carry real risk — research properly, hire qualified operators, and consult a doctor for anything physically demanding.
FAQ
- Where do the bucket-list ideas come from?
- They are bundled into the tool as a curated starter pack — 8 categories × 8 ideas each = 64 hand-picked items spanning travel, adventure, learning, creative, career, family, health, and experience.
- Can I add my own items?
- Yes. After generating, use the "Add your own" field with a category dropdown to append any item you like. It persists with the rest of the list.
- How do I mark items as done?
- Each row has a checkbox; ticking it marks the item complete and strikes it through. The done count appears at the top of the list.
- Will my bucket list survive a browser restart?
- Yes — items, completion state, and selected seed categories all persist in localStorage on this device. Use Reset to clear it back to the default categories.
- Can I share my bucket list?
- Press Copy to put a category-grouped plain-text version on your clipboard, then paste it into any note, doc, or message.
- Is anything sent to a server?
- No. The tool is fully client-side. Your list never leaves the device it was created on.
