About this shoe size converter

Shoe size systems track foot length but each region uses a different scale and zero point. The shoe size converter uses the ISO 19407 / Mondopoint convention (foot length in mm is the canonical key) and pre-computed common values for US, UK, EU, and JP that match manufacturer charts (Nike, Adidas, Clarks). Half-sizes in the US system correspond to roughly 4 mm of extra foot length; the EU "Paris point" system adds about 6.67 mm per whole size.

Worked example: a man's US 9. Looking up the men's table gives foot length 270 mm (27.0 cm) — and the matching sizes are UK 8.5, EU 42.5, and JP 27.0. That same 270 mm foot would be a women's US 10.5 or a kid's shoe in a much higher number if it physically fit (it would not). Going the other way: someone with a measured 245 mm foot is a US men's 6.5, US women's 8, EU 38.5 — useful when you want one number and the box only shows another. Conversions are based on ISO 19407 Mondopoint — but always try the shoe on; manufacturers cheat by 5–10 mm depending on the last.

FAQ

How do I measure my foot length?
Stand on a piece of paper with your weight on the foot, trace the outline, and measure heel to longest toe. Do it at the end of the day — feet swell up to 5 mm. Use the longer foot.
Why do men's and women's sizes overlap?
They use the same foot-length scale but offset differently in the US system. A women's US 10.5 is the same physical shoe as a men's US 9. UK and EU systems use a single unisex scale, so the conversion can look surprising.
Does the calculator support half sizes?
Yes — every common US half size has a row. EU half sizes (e.g., 40.5) are also included.
How accurate is converting between US and EU?
Within a half size. Manufacturers vary, and there is no single ISO authority for the consumer-shoe scale — the tool uses the most widely-accepted cross-reference, but always try shoes on if you can.
Are kids' sizes the same as adult sizes?
No — US kids' sizes 1–13 sit below adult sizes, then a separate big-kid 1–7 range overlaps with adult sizing. The kids chart in the tool handles the transition.
Is the shoe size converter free?
Yes — free, no signup, runs in your browser.
