About this cleaning schedule generator

The cleaning schedule generator combines a built-in task library with a room picker to produce a daily/weekly/monthly rotation that matches your home. Each room — Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom, Living room, Whole home — has a curated list of typical chores at three frequencies, drawn from the kind of advice cleaning columns and home-economics texts have settled on for years (wipe counters daily, mop floors weekly, deep-clean the oven monthly, and so on). Untick rooms you do not want included and only their tasks drop out.

Tasks render grouped by frequency, not by room, so you can see what needs doing today vs. once a month at a glance. The current state lives in your browser's localStorage under "toolnest:cleaning-schedule-generator" — tick boxes, edits, and additions persist between sessions on this device.

For example, leave Kitchen, Bathroom, and Whole home selected. The Daily list shows "Wipe counters and stovetop", "Wipe down sink", and "Squeegee shower glass". The Weekly list includes "Scrub toilet", "Mop floor", "Empty all bins", and "Wipe door handles and light switches". The Monthly list covers "Deep-clean oven", "Descale showerhead", "Wash windows inside", and "Replace HVAC filter".

FAQ

Where do the default tasks come from?
They're a curated library based on widely-shared cleaning guidance for North American and European homes — wipe counters daily, mop weekly, deep-clean the oven monthly, and so on. Treat it as a sensible starting point rather than a strict rule.
Can I add or remove tasks?
Yes. Each task is editable inline, you can press × to delete, and the "+ add" button at the top of each frequency block inserts a new custom row.
Does the tool remember what I have ticked?
Yes — selected rooms, generated tasks, and per-task ticks are saved in localStorage under "toolnest:cleaning-schedule-generator". Closing and reopening the tab keeps your progress.
How do I share the schedule with a flatmate?
Generate the schedule, then press Copy. The plain-text rotation is pasted onto your clipboard ready for a shared note or chat.
Will the schedule print well?
Yes. After generating, copy the text into a document and print, or use your browser's print view of the page. Each frequency section is clearly headed so it stays readable on paper.
