About this capsule wardrobe creator
The capsule wardrobe creator helps you assemble a small, deliberate seasonal wardrobe in the spirit of Project 333 — 33 items, worn for 3 months, including shoes and outerwear. The default slot layout (Tops 9, Bottoms 5, Dresses 2, Outerwear 3, Shoes 5, Accessories 9) sums to 33; you can edit every target, rename slots, or add slots if your version of the rule differs (e.g. a 40-piece capsule, or splitting Accessories into Bags and Jewellery).
You add pieces one at a time and the tool tallies them against each slot's target, surfacing gaps ("need 2 more") and overages ("over by 1") so the capsule stays balanced. Everything is stored in your browser's localStorage under "toolnest:capsule-wardrobe-creator", so the in-progress capsule survives reloads. Nothing leaves the device.
For example, target a 33-item Spring capsule with defaults. Add 7 Tops (white tee, blue tee, striped tee, white shirt, blue shirt, beige knit, denim shirt), 4 Bottoms (blue jeans, black jeans, beige chinos, navy skirt), 1 Dress (floral midi), 2 Outerwear (trench, denim jacket), 4 Shoes (white sneakers, black ankle boots, brown loafers, sandals), 8 Accessories (belt, sunglasses, scarf, three bags, watch, hat). The summary reports 26/33 with gaps of 2 Tops, 1 Bottom, 1 Dress, 1 Outerwear, 1 Shoes, 1 Accessory — exactly what you still need to buy or pull from storage.
FAQ
- Why 33 items?
- It is the headline number from Project 333, a popular minimalist capsule rule: 33 items including clothing, shoes, accessories, and outerwear, worn for 3 months. You can change every slot target if you prefer a different total.
- Can I add or rename slots?
- Yes. Each slot row has an editable name and target. Press "+ add slot" to add new ones, or × to remove. The summary uses your final slot set.
- Does it sync between phones or laptops?
- No. The capsule is stored in this browser's localStorage under "toolnest:capsule-wardrobe-creator". Use the same browser to keep your data.
- How does the gap calculation work?
- For each slot the tool counts the pieces you have assigned and subtracts the target. Positive numbers are gaps ("need N more"); negatives are overages ("over by N"). Zero is a clean tick.
- Can I plan multiple seasons?
- The season picker labels the summary, but the tool stores one capsule at a time. To work on a different season, copy the current summary, then reset and start fresh.
